Industry Related News: United States – (September, 2018):
World Oil is reporting that in an effort to further promote safety in the drilling industry, one company has introduced a thermal testing protocol to simulate “real world conditions” to “test connections designed for shale plays.” These connection components are “subjected to extreme temperatures of up to 300°F for up to 24 hr” in order to simulate “temperature in service” and degradation that may occur over time. Production also includes elevation of “the temperature of the sample while it is undergoing sealability testing to simulate downhole thermal conditions.”
The end goal is to provide reliable equipment despite the often “unpredictable nature of real-world drilling and completions.”
